Wild Things Preschool Program:

Our popular program for preschool age children, Wild Things, offers outdoor educational experiences in a fun and structured setting. Appropriate for ages 2-5, these hour-long classes will include a themed storytime, active game, craft, and nature hike. Topics will include seasons, local critters, and habitats that can be found within our park. Whenever possible, age appropriate practice of letters, numbers, and other basics will be incorporated into the lessons. Caregivers are expected to remain with the children and take part in the fun!

Wild Things Schedule:

For Fall 2017 this program will be offered as a six-class session, held every other week on either Tuesdays or Fridays as outlined below. The lessons presented will be the same on corresponding Tuesdays and Fridays, so it is appropriate to only attend one or the other. Children will get the most out of the program and you will get the best value by registering for a full session. In the event that sessions do not fill to capacity, drop-in space may be available on select days/times. **Please note changes in start times**

  Friday Session Dates:
    September 22, October 6, October 20, November 3, November 17, December 1
  Available Friday Times:
    9:30 - 10:30am or 11:00am - 12:00pm

  Tuesday Session Dates:

Twilight Skies Campfire Program:

We've teamed up with Westminster Astronomical Society to bring you a family-friendly campfire program that gives you a glimpse into evenings in our world and waaaay beyond! We will begin at 6:30 pm with the first round of telescope viewing from Pine Observatory at Charlotte's Quest (we can view the moon before dark!) and a casual campfire talk. As the sun begins to set we will take a naturalist guided twilight hike to observe the park's transition between day and night, with a focus on a different evening dweller each month. Following the hike those interested can return to the telescope to see Jupiter and other features of the early night sky. We will provide marshmallows for roasting! All children must be accompanied by a paying adult caregiver. These events are intended for children at least 5 years old because of the fire, telescopes, and darkness - younger children are permitted to attend, but must be constantly supervised. Please use your discretion and do not bring young children who cannot handle the boundaries that the situation requires.

Fee: $5/non-member, $4/member of Charlotte's Quest or Westminster Astronomical Society
Registration: Twilight Campfire Program Registration Form
Please include all pertinent information, especially your membership.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact Holly Fowler via email at naturalist@charlottesquestnaturecenter.com or call 215-828-2354.
